That Evening Football Show – Episode 34

Happy New Year! Welcome to our first show in 2024. Despite some technical issues in the beginning, we still managed to have a grand time doing this episode.

What made it even more grand was having Silvio Mrkonja back on the show. We of course value his football knowledge, but the main reason why we welcome him back for this particular episode was that we wanted to find out his FPL secrets. Why? Because he was ranked No.1 in FPL in the whole of Austria at the end of Gameweek 20 (currently No.3)! We cannot be more proud of him! Needless to say, we tried hard extracting as much information as we possibly could.

There are still 9 days until the January transfer window closes, but so far, the amount of confirmed deals is rather low. The most noticeable ones are of course Kalvin Phillips to West Ham and Jordan Henderson to Ajax. We discussed what impact they may bring to their respective club.

Off the back of Henderson’s move back to Europe, we shared our thoughts on whether Saudi Pro League is showing some serious cracks, especially with rumours about a few high profile players also wanting a move away circling around.

Spontaneity has always been part of our show. With Silvio in the studio, we went a bit off topic and shared our experience with the Croatia national team in major tournaments, as well as our plans for the upcoming Euros in Germany.
Towards the end of the show, we had a quick chat about whether the GOATs of the game, namely, Messi, Ronaldo and other great players have now come to the end of their career, and are enjoying their lives in the likes of MLS and Saudi Pro League.
