„It will not be peace – it will occupation.“ – An Interview with Olha from SICH

Olha Volynska is a journalist, documentary filmmaker, writer, and human rights defender from Ukraine. She is a winner of numerous journalistic competitions, including ‘Honor of the profession’. Laureate of the „PLURAL+“ International Film Festival in New York. Member of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine. Since 2020, she is an executive director of the Human Rights Protection Group SICH, Ukrainian civic organization, that provides free legal assistance to victims of war, and documents Russian war crimes in the territory of Ukraine.  Since 2018, the organization has also created short documentaries and other visual media as tools for human rights protection.

With VON UNTEN we spoke about her organization, the ongoing war in Ukraine and how the number breaches of human rights increased since the full scale invasion.

Mira ist seit Beginn des Krieges in vielen unterschiedlichen Städten Europas unterwegs, um Geld für in Krieg kämpfende Anarchist:innen zu sammeln. Die Tatsache, dass sie Geld für Kriegsgerät sammelt, stößt in vielen Städten auf Kritik.
Wir haben Mira gefragt, wie es ihr im Exil geht, welchen unterschiedlichen Zwecken das Geld zugutekommt und wie sie mit der Kritik umgeht, Anarchist:innen würden Seite an Seite mit Nazis kämpfen.
